Company expansion? Time for a fresh face with fresh ideas!

This is a post for all you lovely customers out there wondering who I am! My name is Olivia and I am currently studying Psychology at Nottingham Trent University. Part of my course requires me to carry out a placement that I thought would be best linked to my future career. I have always had a passion for sales and marketing so decided to seek out a placement that would allow me to build upon the skills involved in that area.

About my role

I first came across Pulse through a contact at the university who worked at The Hive- where Hannah is based. I then got in contact with Hannah and secured my placement. Hannah assigned me with the role of Sales and Marketing support which involves lots of input with all aspects of the social media for Pulse; including writing blogs. I also have done lots of market research which has been so interesting and allowed me to have a real insight into the world of customised clothing!

What have I learnt?

Working at Pulse has taught me many skills that I may not have picked up from my degree alone. Here are a few examples; people skills, having contact with customers is something I definitely don’t do in my degree! I’ve also learnt practical skills about all the different types of printing there are available and although I can’t quite carry out the printing yet I have gained a lot more knowledge on the topic. Working for Pulse has given me some real work experience and I feel more prepared to face the working world once I graduate! In particular I have been able to develop my sales and marketing skills and in turn this has further fuelled the passions I already have.
